The post of chairman of the Public Council at the Federal Penitentiary Service of his own free will left the writer and director Yevgeny Grishkovets. He headed council at the end of December 2021, replacing the deceased director Vladimir Menshov. Mr. Grishkovets explained that he had not coped with the tasks that he set for himself as chairman of the council. At the same time, the director remains a member of the board.
The decision to resign from Yevgeny Grishkovets was made by the Public Council of the Federal Penitentiary Service at a meeting today. “I want to resign on my own initiative and desire, because I can’t quite cope with the tasks that I set for myself and which the chairman of the public council faces,” explained Mr. Grishkovets (quoted from TASS). He added that he would continue to serve as a board member.
In December 2021, during the introduction of the director as chairman of the board, it was stated that “Grishkovets is an authoritative person who is difficult to pressure.” As chairman of the council, he visited the institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service and met with employees in many regions.
