The head of Sberbank, German Gref, predicted two scenarios for the development of artificial intelligence. According to the first option, AI will help people work less but earn more. The second scenario assumes that the development of AI, on the contrary, will lead to the creation of more jobs and a shortage of labor resources. And someone says that we must first create a system that will allow: a) 100% control; b) be responsible for the results of its implementation,” said Mr. Gref.

The head of Sberbank said that OpenAI is slightly ahead of everyone else in AI research. He suggested that the company’s developers might have touched on some new AI features that made them think and put security concerns first. At the same time, the head of the bank is not ready to comment on the conflict, because there are no reliable sources.

Sam Altman fired from his post as CEO of OpenAI on November 17. The board of directors made the decision because the head of the company “was not frank” when interacting with the board. The company did not specify what exactly this was about.

The dismissal of Sam Altman prompted the departure of a number of highly qualified employees from OpenAI, as well as President Greg Brockman and three leading scientists. On November 22, Mr. Altman was reinstated.

According to Reuters sources, a letter from researchers sent to the board of directors before the dismissal of Sam Altman may have mentioned the Q* project, an OpenAI development that “could be a breakthrough in the development of AGI” (artificial general intelligence). AGI could hypothetically be capable of solving any problem that a human can solve, or even exceeding human capabilities.
