Greenpeace activists disrupted the speech of British Prime Minister Liz Truss at the Conservative Party convention in Birmingham. It is reported by Sky News.
During Truss’s speech, activists began to loudly criticize fracking – a way to extract gas or oil by creating a crack in the reservoir. In Britain, previously decided to withdraw a moratorium on it. In addition, two girls unfurled a yellow banner that read “Who voted this?”.
The prime minister turned to the security service and asked to withdraw the protesters from the hall. The audience at the convention supported Truss and also demanded that the activists be taken away.
Environmental activists have previously criticized Truss. In August, they interrupted her presentation of her candidacy twice during a performance in Eastbourne and played the song Mad World by Tears for Fears when she made her first speech as premier.
