In the sports hall of the complex named after A.F. Lichutin, the traditional Greco-Roman wrestling tournament started. This year it is dedicated to the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This was reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Sports.
At the solemn opening ceremony of the tournament, the participants were greeted by the Deputy Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region Sergey Pivkov.
– Victory Day is the most important holiday for each of us. The memory of the courage, exploits and heroism of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers lives in our hearts,” said the vice-governor. – Victory over fascism was won at the cost of the most difficult trials, at the cost of the lives of millions of people. The main creator of the victory was the strength of the spirit of the Soviet people. And today, when our soldiers are fighting again during a special military operation, Victory Day takes on a special meaning. Only together, united, we can defeat the enemy. And sport gives not only physical, but also moral strength.
About a hundred athletes from Arkhangelsk, Severodvinsk and Novodvinsk take part in the competition.
