US President Joe Biden, from the podium of the United Nations, accused Moscow of the collapse of the global disarmament system and unwillingness to end the conflict in Ukraine. As a result, the American leader called on the whole world to support Kyiv. In turn, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the termination of the grain deal is a threat of a new food crisis. Kommersant FM political commentator Dmitry Drize believes that the current session of the General Assembly promises to be very interesting.

Joe Biden mentioned Russia and Ukraine only at the end of his speech from the high podium of the United Nations. The President of the United States spoke about world peace, about equal opportunities for all countries on the path to a better life. The fact that the UN Security Council needs to be reformed – to expand the number of its permanent members – is a requirement of the time. The climate also needs to be monitored, otherwise the world’s oceans will one day flood the entire globe.

The head of the White House touched upon the issue of nuclear disarmament: for 50 years everything went more or less normally, but now we see the collapse of the global security architecture, and the reason for this is the actions of Moscow. And only Russia is responsible for what is happening around Ukraine, and only it has the opportunity to stop the fighting, but it does not want to. However, the West will lend a shoulder to its ally. The speech is interrupted – the audience applauds. Not completely, but confidently and loudly.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is clearly flattered and is shown in close-up. Biden, meanwhile, continues: America’s priority is the same rules of the game for everyone in the world and respect for human rights.

By the way, almost simultaneously at the Ramstein airbase in Germany, the next, 15th meeting of the international contact group on military support for Kyiv is taking place. The main conclusion, without specifics, is that the counteroffensive is proceeding as it goes, no one said it would be easy, this whole confrontation is not for one day.

Joe Biden, in fact, is talking about this: supporting Ukraine for America is actually a matter of principle, since, as mentioned above, the world must play by the rules that Moscow violates. And now Bloomberg reports, citing sources in the G7, a disappointing forecast: the conflict in Ukraine could drag on for another six or even seven years.

I would also like to draw attention to the speech of Recep Tayyip Erdogan – the Turkish President is a consistent supporter of expanding the UN Security Council – this is the first thing. Secondly, according to him, the collapse of the grain deal is a risk of a new global crisis. The Turkish leader did not directly indicate who is to blame for this, perhaps because everything should be clear anyway. And again, all these coincidences are right on the eve of the General Assembly – Azerbaijan begins an anti-terrorist operation in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Let’s not develop various conspiracy theories. The current session is a big political battle, where everyone has their own interests, which at some point may coincide. There is a clear intention to revive the apparently fading United Nations. Give it new impetus. And whoever becomes the leader in this process wins – there is a fight for this. The result is not yet obvious.

Meanwhile, as the TASS agency reports, the Russian delegation travels to New York via a difficult route, primarily due to the intrigues of its former partners.
