Korean-American scientist Jung Eun Kim and her colleagues concluded that grapes improve eye health in older people.
Biologists conducted an experiment in which 34 elderly volunteers ate either 46 grams of freeze-dried table grape powder or the same amount of placebo. The first group, following an experiment that lasted 16 weeks, had lower levels of substances associated with the risk of retinal damage.
The amount of powder the participants received was equivalent to one and a half cups of grapes per day, said the biologists, who reported their findings in the journal Food & Function.
