Grandmaster Karpov discharged from hospital

Anatoly Karpov, 71-year-old world chess champion and United Russia State Duma deputy, has been discharged from the hospital. This was reported “RIA News” grandmaster’s assistant Albert Stepanyan. At the end of October, he was hospitalized with a fractured femoral neck and head injury.
“Anatoly Evgenievich (Karpov. – “b”) was discharged from the hospital. He is already at home, which is very happy. His condition is good, he will continue to be treated on an outpatient basis. Until he starts work, he must first recover,” Mr. Stepanyan said.
Anatoly Karpov was treated at the Sklifosovsky Research Institute. Chairman of the All-Russian Movement of Entrepreneurs Andrei Kovalev reported that the deputy was hospitalized due to injuries sustained during the attack. According to Mr. Kovalev, the grandmaster was attacked at the exit from the State Duma.
Mr. Karpov is the 12th world chess champion. In 1970 he became the youngest international grandmaster in the world. Anatoly Karpov became a State Duma deputy from United Russia at the end of October 2021.
