Graduates of schools in new Russian regions will be admitted to the Unified State Examination without a final essay

Ministry of Education and Rosobrnadzor developed an order concerning the state final certification (SFA) of basic and secondary education for new regions until the 2025/26 academic year inclusive. According to the document, 11th grade graduates will be allowed to take final exams without writing a final essay, 9th grade graduates will be allowed to take exams without passing a final interview in Russian.
“At the same time, graduates of grade 11 have the right to write a final essay at will, the result of writing an essay by them will not affect admission to the GIA,”— informs Rosobrnadzor.
GIA for 9th grade graduates from new regions will be held in four academic subjects (two compulsory and two optional) in the form of a main state exam or a state final exam (GVE). Participants with disabilities (HIA), children with disabilities and the disabled will only need to pass the OGE or GVE in compulsory subjects to obtain a certificate.
Graduates from the 11th grade will take the GIA in the form of the Unified State Examination or the GVE of their choice in two compulsory subjects. For participants with disabilities, children with disabilities and disabled people, they will still have the opportunity to choose to take the State Examination in the form of an intermediate certification, then they will take it in the form of the Unified State Examination or the GVE in the Russian language.
Earlier today, February 17, President Vladimir Putin signed law on the integration of new regions into the Russian education system. The document establishes Russian standards on education in these territories.
