The military registration and enlistment offices of St. Petersburg began work to clarify the data of those liable for military service living in the city, upon receipt of the summons, the townspeople should notify the employer and not ignore the requirement to appear, Governor Alexander Beglov said on Monday, March 20.
“Today it is very important to correctly and accurately assess the resources that our city has. Partial mobilization last fall revealed significant discrepancies in the systems for storing personal data of those liable for military service, ”quotes Fontanka words of the head of St. Petersburg.
Mr. Beglov added that the military registration and enlistment offices will clarify data on the current marital status, education, places of work of those liable for military service and those enlisted in the reserve.
Since mid-March, residents of several regions of Russia at once, including those bordering Ukraine, began to receive summons to the military registration and enlistment office. Thus, the documents were received by residents of the Rostov, Lipetsk, Penza, Nizhny Novgorod and Yaroslavl regions, as well as the Republic of Mari El. Local military commissariats explain this by the need to verify and clarify the data. At the same time, the Ministry of Defense and the Kremlin deny that this is due to a possible new wave of mobilization, noting that the country’s leadership has no such plans.
