Google will halve the update time of the Chrome browser – Kommersant

American corporation Google announced, that now security updates and patches for the Chrome browser will be released twice as often – it will be possible to update the application once a week. The company believes that this will help to better resist fraudsters and close more vulnerabilities.

The Chrome browser is based on the open source Chromium system: on the one hand, this allows users to suggest fixes and point out buggies and security problems, on the other hand, attackers can discover vulnerabilities and exploit them before Google releases a patch. Weekly updates should mitigate this risk.

Formerly Google released an emergency patch to fix a serious vulnerability in Chrome, and update for the Google Chrome browser, which has a new feature for correcting typos in URLs.
