Google has instructed its suppliers to start producing Pixel smartphones in India starting next quarter. This was reported with reference to informed sources. Nikkei Asia. Google has set a goal of producing a total of 10 million Pixel smartphones this year.

According to Nikkei Asia sources, Google will prepare production lines for the assembly of the Pixel 8 Pro in southern India in the coming weeks and will launch production of this model there in the second quarter. The Pixel 8 will then begin production in northern India around mid-year. Centers are already developing in these parts of the country, which emerged after a number of large companies, including Apple, Samsung, Oppo, Xiaomi, brought component suppliers there.

Thanks to the expansion of production, the Indian smartphone market in 2023, according to IDC, grew by 1%, with 146 million devices produced. Moreover, in the second half of the year the growth was 11% compared to the same period in 2022. At the same time, the global smartphone market declined by 4.7% in 2023. And China, which is the largest smartphone market, will see a 5% decline in 2023.
