Google has blocked the Rostec YouTube channel, the state corporation is switching to the domestic RuTube platform.

The Rostec YouTube channel had almost 45,000 subscribers and hundreds of thousands of viewers a year.

In July, Igor Ashmanov, a member of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights under the President of the Russian Federation, said that YouTube video hosting could be blocked in Russia by autumn. Ashmanov noted that the blocking of video hosting will become possible as soon as the work of domestic analogue platforms – RuTube and VK Video – is set up.
On the eve of the deputy head of the State Duma committee on information policy, Anton Gorelkin, said that instead of blocking YouTube in Russia, measures should be taken to weaken its “hegemony”.
