The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said that today, February 7, a prayer service will be held in the city in memory of those killed in the shelling of Belgorod on December 30. 40 days have passed since the shelling, in which 25 people were killed. A prayer service will be held near the memorial in the city center.
“Today is 40 days since the terrible tragedy that occurred on December 30… In memory of the victims, a prayer service will be held today at 12 noon in the area of the Mayak department store next to the “Heart” art object, which has already become a symbol of this tragedy,” — Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote on the page in “In contact with”.
On December 30, the center of Belgorod came under massive shelling. Vyacheslav Gladkov called this shelling the heaviest since February 2022. Over 1 thousand buildings were damaged. During the shelling, an art object was damaged – a heart with the inscription “Belgorod”. Residents of Belgorod are now called his “wounded heart”. In the area of the art object, a memorial of flowers and children’s toys was formed.
