German Interior Minister Feser threatened not to issue visas to Russian athletes

German Interior Minister Nancy Feser, who also deals with sports in Germany, told the Berliner Morgenpost newspaper that Russian athletes could be denied a visa if the International Olympic Committee allows them to compete.

According to Feather, host countries are not entirely powerless, and can influence the participation of foreign athletes through the visa departments.

“When we organize international competitions in Germany, we can act accordingly. We will always take a clear position here, ”the head of the German Interior Ministry explained her decision.

Meanwhile, Feser is concerned about the behavior of German athletes who are boycotting the participation of Russian representatives. Feather explained that such methods can harm German athletes who have been preparing for competitions for a long time.

Recall that on March 28, during a meeting of the IOC Executive Committee, recommendations were issued on the admission of Russians in a neutral status, provided that the athletes are not actively engaged in supporting the IOC. In addition, athletes from the Russian law enforcement agencies will not be allowed to participate in international competitions.
