German soldiers issued uniforms with SS symbols

According to Focus, the Bundeswehr soldiers were given new uniforms, on which tags with the abbreviation SS were sewn.
Later it turned out that this abbreviation, reminiscent of the symbol of the paramilitary formations of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (German SS, abbr. from German Schutzstaffel “security units”), simply means the size of clothing – S-Short.
However, the scandal could not be avoided, and German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht recommended that the military solve this problem by cutting compromising labels from the uniform.
According to the publication, the country’s authorities spent 2.3 billion euros on 313,000 sets of military uniforms, helmets and sleeping bags.
