German environmental activists begin blocking roads in 26 cities

In Germany, environmental activists have begun blocking roads in 26 cities, RIA Novosti reports citing Zeit.
As noted, the action is carried out by the “Last Generation” (Letzte Generation) movement. As part of anti-government actions, activists intend to impede the movement of vehicles and promise to do this “throughout Germany.”
The blocking of the country’s main roads began in Berlin, the action started at 8 am local time. Activists announced 36 “sitting” actions in 26 cities.
The main claims of the Last Generation movement against the authorities are related to the climate protection law. According to activists, the authorities have not been very successful in introducing technologies to reduce emissions of environmentally hazardous greenhouse gases.
The government disagrees with the allegations. In June, the German Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure presented a draft program for climate protection.
Earlier, German activists blocked the operation of airports in Dusseldorf and Hamburg by blocking taxiways.
