German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed his doubts about the imminent entry of Ukraine into NATO. After the summit of the European Political Community (EPG) in Moldova, the head of the German government explained that even after the end of the conflict with Russia, the accelerated admission of Ukraine to NATO cannot be guaranteed.
Scholz noted that in order to join the alliance, there are clear criteria that must be met. One of these criteria is the absence of border conflicts in the candidate country.
In response to a question about possible alternative mechanisms for ensuring the security of Ukraine after the end of the war, the German Chancellor said that such measures should guarantee the protection of Ukraine from possible threats of attack and at the same time contribute to the stabilization of the country. In addition, security guarantees must be accepted by all interested parties, not just Ukraine.
