German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has become the most unpopular head of government in German history, according to a survey conducted by ARD Germany.
Reportedly, at the moment, only 20% of the country’s population supports Scholz’s policies. The last time such a level of support for the activities of the prime minister was recorded was in 1997, when Helmut Kohl was Chancellor of Germany. Then the survey was conducted on the eve of his resignation after his election defeat in 1998.
A little earlier, in the summer of 2023, polls demonstrated the lowest level of Germans’ trust in the state in history. Only 27% of respondents expressed confidence in the state’s ability to solve their problems.
