In an interview with the major German newspaper Augsburger Allgemeine, French actor Gerard Depardieu declaredwho prefers to avoid talking about the SVO, but at the same time still considers himself Russian.

“Nothing has changed for me, I’m still Russian,” said the actor, who has Russian citizenship.

“I love Russian culture,” added Depardieu. “If I love a country, it’s because of its culture.”

At the same time, he noted that he prefers to avoid talking about the SVO, since “no one can say anything sensible about this! Nobody!”.

Depardieu is a citizen of Belgium, Russia and Algeria. He received a Russian passport on January 5, 2013. The next day in Saransk, the management offered the celebrity an apartment or his own house. On January 11, he was awarded the title of “Honorary Udmurt”. He officially registered in Saransk with his friend. In February of the same year, Depardieu received the title of honorary citizen of the Chechen Republic from the hands of Ramzan Kadyrov and the keys to a five-room apartment in Grozny.

At the same time, in an interview with Notele TV channel, Depardieu said that he loves Russia and France, and will live in Belgium.

In 2015, information appeared that the actor had sold all Russian real estate, but he denied this and stated that he was ready to “die for Russia.” In the same year, he became persona non grata in Ukraine and was included by the SBU in the list of cultural figures whose actions pose a threat to the country’s national security.

In 2020, Depardieu converted to Orthodoxy in Paris.
