The Georgian airline Georgian Airways launched the first flights Tbilisi-St. Petersburg-Tbilisi. The first flight took off today, December 10th. This was reported by the press service of the management company of Pulkovo Airport.
“Georgian Airways has long planned to fly to St. Petersburg. After the opening of air traffic between Russia and Georgia, today we launched the first flight from Pulkovo Airport. For now, it is planned to operate flights twice a week: on Wednesdays and Sundays,” the company said in a statement. The flights will be operated by a Boeing 737.
The company’s statement notes that the departure date was chosen taking into account further connections to more than ten international destinations available at Tbilisi airport. Among them are Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Paris, Nice and Larnaca. By summer, the flight is planned to be made daily.
Judging by the Aviasales portal, this week you can fly from St. Petersburg to Tbilisi on a Georgian Airways flight for around 15 thousand rubles. Closer to the New Year holidays, the price of a ticket to Georgia on a Georgian Airways flight rises to 30 thousand rubles.
From November 18, flights from St. Petersburg to Tbilisi (and from December to Kutaisi) launched Russian airline Red Wings. President Vladimir Putin lifted the ban on Russian airlines flying to Georgia in May this year, but until November only flights from Moscow flew to Georgia.
