Georgia compared sanctions against Russia to a shot in the leg

Speaker of the Georgian parliament Shalva Papuashvili, in a conversation with journalists, compared the introduction of sanctions against Russia to “shooting yourself in the foot.”
Papuashvili wondered if any representative of the Russian Federation says that the sun rises in the east, then does everyone really need to say that this is not so and resist it. He emphasized that the introduction of anti-Russian restrictive measures is nothing more than “a shot in one’s own foot,” and is a truth that everyone knows about – both Georgian citizens and foreign partners.
Answering a question from the press about why the Georgian authorities increasingly deserve praise from Russian officials, the chairman of the Georgian parliament indicated that the republic’s authorities act exclusively in the interests of their people. Papuashvili considered the main thing that the country’s leadership is praised by Georgian citizens, and the authorities feel praise and support from them, since they act based on their interests.
