General Director of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia Vladimir Urin said that he spent his last day in this position, RBC reports.
Reportedly, Urin has already said goodbye to the troupe, this happened after the premiere of the play “Son of a Mandarin. Nightingale”.
Earlier, the Shot telegram channel reported, citing its source, that a new leader could be introduced to the team on Friday at the Bolshoi Theater. In mid-November, information appeared that Urin wrote a letter of resignation of his own free will to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, and the head of the St. Petersburg Mariinsky Theater Valery Gergiev could be appointed in his place.
At the same time, RBC’s source confirms that the main candidate for the post of director of the Bolshoi Theater is Valery Gergiev. Currently, Gergiev holds the position of the Mariinsky Theater.
