General Alekseev: Wagner’s intentions are a stab in the back to the country and the president

Army Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseev, addressing the Wagner private military company, said that its intentions are a stab in the back of the country and the president. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“Whatever your intentions are, this is a stab in the back of the country and the president,” Alekseev said, recalling that only the head of state is authorized to appoint the command of the Russian army, which means that Wagner’s actions should be regarded as an attempt on his power and coup d’état. He urged the “Wagnerites” to come to their senses.

“Because it is now impossible to think of a bigger blow to the image of Russia and its armed forces,” the general said, calling what is happening a provocation that can only be organized by Russia’s enemies.

He also stated that the Russian army has not used and will not use weapons against PMCs.

“It was still not enough for us to unleash a civil war within the country at the present time. Think again!”, – said Alekseev.

Before Alekseev, one of the commanders of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, General of the Army Sergei Surovikin, addressed the commanders and fighters of the Wagner private military company in connection with the latest statements of its founder Yevgeny Prigozhin. He also called on the “Wagnerites” to stop and recalled that the Kiev regime was waiting for the situation inside Russia to worsen. He urged not to “play into the hands of the enemy in these difficult times for the country.”

The Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service of Russia, in its message, called on the fighters of a private military company not to follow the orders of the founder of the PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, and also to detain him. It was reported that a criminal case was opened against Prigozhin under Article 279 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the fact of organizing an armed rebellion. As part of the case, it is planned to give Prigozhin’s actions a proper legal assessment. Article 279 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 12 to 20 years.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that on behalf of Prigozhin, false information about the attack on the Wagner PMC camp was being disseminated in social networks. The Kremlin said that President Vladimir Putin is aware of the situation and that the necessary measures are being taken. The National Anti-Terrorism Committee of the Russian Federation on Friday evening, June 23, stated that the allegations spread on behalf of Yevgeny Prigozhin had no basis.
