Gasoline prices in Russia predicted rapid growth

Gasoline prices in Russia will soon rise due to the weakening ruble and the oil embargo, reports News.ru.

Experts note that in Russia, unlike in Europe, the cost of fuel has not changed, but this is a temporary effect. They believe that this year gasoline prices in the country may rise by 5-11 percent, which is higher than expected inflation.

The head of the analytical department of AMarkets, Artem Deev, recalled the increase in the excise tax on motor fuel by four percent, which will slightly reduce the margins of manufacturers.

A more significant impact on price growth will have an increase in the mineral extraction tax, which is the main tax for the oil and gas sector. The embargo on the import of Russian oil products to the European Union and the introduction of a ceiling on prices for Russian oil will also have an effect.

The EU embargo on the import of Russian oil products comes into force next Monday, February 5.
