Governor of the Smolensk region Vasily Anokhin presented a forecast for the period of restoration work and liquidation of consequences after the collapse of the Paninsky overpass in Vyazma. According to him, the bridge will be completely dismantled overnight, and later a new overpass will be built in its place. The gas supply, which was disrupted as a result of the collapse of a road overpass, is planned to be restored within three days.

“There were seven spans of bridges, six collapsed, one remained, survived, but in fact it also needs to be dismantled. The work will be carried out around the clock, during the night we must dismantle the bridge, remove it and allow trains to pass through… In addition, a contractor and a designer are now on site. In the near future we will determine the price of the construction of a new bridge,” Mr. Anokhin said in a video published in his Telegram-channel. According to the governor, about 161 people and 39 pieces of equipment are currently working at the site of the collapse.

Vasily Anokhin noted that work is currently underway to restore gas supply and communication lines that were damaged as a result of the bridge collapse. He confirmed that due to the collapse of the bridge, 8 thousand local residents were left without gas. “Now we are cutting out the gas pipeline, we will make a puncture under the road in order to restore gas supply within three days. Also, communication lines should be repaired today or tomorrow,” he added. The governor emphasized that assistance will be provided to all victims.
