Galaktionov wants to resign as coach of Lokomotiv - Kommersant


Lokomotiv head coach Mikhail Galaktionov said that he intends to meet with the management of the football club to discuss the results of the match with Ural and the team’s future strategy. Previously "Championship" citing a source reported that Mr. Galaktionov wants to resign from the post of head coach of Lokomotiv.

On April 3, the match of the second stage of the 1/4 finals of the “Path of the Regions” of the Fonbet Russian Cup between Lokomotiv and Ural took place at the Ekaterinburg Arena stadium. The meeting ended with a score of 1:0 in favor of Ural. At the post-match press conference, Mikhail Galaktionov was asked what caused this result for Lokomotiv.

“I’ll tell you this: if we collectively gain two points over the last five matches, it means something is going wrong. We certainly didn't expect this. We didn’t solve the problem that we had. After the meeting of the football teams, the Championship reported that Mikhail Galaktionov expressed a desire to resign from the post of head coach of Lokomotiv. According to the portal’s source, the management of the Moscow club does not want the coach to leave and intends to persuade him to stay.

On the appointment of 39-year-old Mikhail Galaktionov as head coach of Lokomotiv was announced November 13, 2022. Before that, he coached Paris Nizhny Novgorod. Mr. Galaktionov is the champion of Russia in 2012 and the silver medalist of the Russian championship in 2013 among Club League teams. For training players for national teams, he was awarded a certificate and an anniversary medal of the Moscow Football Federation.
