The famous Russian coach Gadzhi Gadzhiev, who is currently the president of the Dynamo football club from Makhachkala, commented on UEFA’s decision not to allow Russian youth and adult national teams to participate in international competitions. He called this scenario expected, writes Gazeta.RU.

“It seems to me that there is nothing unexpected in this, and UEFA cannot say anything differently, since the decisions of this organization, like the decisions of the International Olympic Committee, are influenced by political events,” he said.

The UEFA Executive Committee partially lifted sanctions on Russian youth teams, allowing them to take part in the qualifying tournament for the 2024 European Championship in the under-17 category, despite the draw having already been held. However, Russian football players will be forced to play their matches on neutral fields and without the use of national flags and anthems. Adult and youth Russian national teams will not be able to return to international competitions until the end of the conflict in Ukraine.
