Fursenko: a bachelor’s degree will be equated to a diploma of complete higher education

Aide to the President of Russia Andrei Fursenko said that diplomas of graduates of higher educational institutions with a bachelor’s degree will be equated with diplomas of complete higher education. When this measure will be introduced, Mr. Fursenko did not specify.

“These diplomas are equivalent to diplomas of higher education. These are specialists who have received higher education, ”Andrey Fursenko said on the air of the TV channel “Russia 24”.

According to him, in the USSR, all graduates of higher educational institutions were considered certified specialists. “The same will happen now,” he stressed.

Andrei Fursenko added that graduates of Russian universities will be able to study and work abroad after the education reform in Russia. According to him, the proposed changes will be in line with international agreements.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the Federal Assembly declared about the need to return to the traditional system of training specialists with higher education. The term of study for it will be from four to six years.

Back in May 2022, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science, Valery Falkov, announced Russia’s plans to withdraw from the Bologna system. It provides for a two-level system of education – bachelor’s and master’s degrees. It was also proposed to make the specialty the main educational program. After the presidential message to the Ministry of Education and Science promised develop new programs of higher education.
