Chairman of the Budget Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Roksolana Pidlasa said in an interview with the Financial Times that Ukraine has begun negotiations with Japan and Canada on the allocation of additional financial assistance.

As noted in the article, Ukraine has planned defense spending of $87 billion in its budget. However, Ukraine’s domestic revenues are only $46 billion. And due to the expected wave of mobilization, the budget deficit will further increase.

Pidlasa noted that in addition to negotiations on financial assistance with the G7 countries, the Ukrainian government plans to significantly reduce non-military revenues and increase taxes.

Another senior Ukrainian official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the newspaper that Kyiv expects a similar situation to repeat itself in 2025.
