Financial Times publishes details of NATO talks on Ukraine’s accession
A number of members of the North Atlantic Alliance oppose the idea of accepting Ukraine into this military-political bloc. The Financial Times writes about this, citing sources in diplomatic circles.
Ukraine’s membership in the alliance was opposed by Hungary, Germany and the United States. They believe that it is too early for Kyiv to talk about joining NATO. Also, these countries criticized the proposal of Poland and the Baltic republics on the faster entry of Ukraine into the alliance.
Recall that this week a meeting of foreign ministers of NATO member countries was held on the issue of what can be offered to Ukraine. Disagreements arose regarding the possibility of offering Kyiv a road map for joining the alliance at the Vilnius NATO summit, which is scheduled for July 2023.
