FT: Kyiv may lose financial and military assistance from the US and EU

The Financial Times notes in its analysis that support for Ukraine, which was once a matter of broad cross-party consensus, has become a “political bargaining chip” not only in the United States, but also in Europe.
The article emphasizes that this worries Kyiv most now, since it needs long-term financial and military support. Meanwhile, the author writes, the resolve and spirit of Ukraine’s most important sponsors seem to be in question. The author recalled that the US Congress has not approved new US aid in the amount of 60 billion dollars, and in the EU the question of allocating 50 billion euros to support the Kyiv budget over the next four years hangs in the balance.
“Ukraine is no longer something special,” the publication quotes Jacob Kirkegaard, a research fellow at the German Marshall Fund in Brussels, as saying that the EU, NATO and the United States no longer view Ukraine as a primary national security issue.
