The European Union “within weeks” plans to supply the Ukrainian army with ammunition for artillery worth 1 billion euros, which were allocated from the European Peace Fund. About it reported newspaper Financial Times.

“I think it will happen quickly, very quickly. And I think it’s about days, weeks, not months,” the newspaper’s source said. He added that all EU countries except Denmark will participate in the project.

According to the source of the newspaper, the project will allocate 1 billion euros, which will be spent on the supply of artillery supplies of 155-mm caliber. EU defense ministers plan to discuss a plan for the allocation of military assistance next week, before the summit of leaders of the union on March 23-24.

At the end of January, Denmark announced that it was refusing to supply Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks. At that time, Danish Defense Minister Jakob Elleman-Jensen said that the country had only 44 tanks, 14 of which were involved in the NATO mission in the Baltics. Serbia also announced the absence of plans for the supply of weapons. 30 January President Aleksandar Vučić declaredthat the country will not supply weapons to Russia or Ukraine, “but will sell them to everyone else.”

The military operation in Ukraine has been going on since February 24, 2022. After it began, the EU countries, the USA, Great Britain and others imposed sanctions on the industry and economy of Russia. In particular, they began to provide military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of weapons to Kyiv. They also noted that Western countries thus become a party to the conflict, to which NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said in February that the supply of aircraft to the Ukrainian Air Force does not make the alliance a party to the conflict.
