The Ministry of Defense of Slovakia evades negotiations with the Russian side to resolve the situation around the transfer of the MiG-29 to Ukraine, says in a statement from the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS).

“Despite the repeated proposals of the FSMTC of Russia and Russian contractors to civilly resolve the current situation, the Slovak Defense Ministry evades negotiations and resolves these issues. Equipment supplied under temporary import conditions continues to be illegally retained by the Slovak Party and may be transferred to Ukraine,” the statement says.

The FSMTC also recalled that the supply of MiG-29 fighters to Slovakia was carried out on the basis of a contract signed with the Ministry of Defense of the Republic on July 8, 1993.

On March 23, the CTK news agency reported that Slovakia had handed over to Ukraine the first four of 13 MiG-29 fighter jets withdrawn from the national air force last year. The process of handing over the fighters will take several weeks.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stressed that the supply of aircraft to Ukraine will not affect the course of the special operation, and all military equipment will be destroyed. Earlier, Polish President Andrzej Duda announced plans to transfer MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine. He stressed that the equipment is in full working order.
