FSB: underground gunsmiths detained in 53 regions of Russia

The Center for Public Relations (CSP) of the FSB of the Russian Federation reported that the FSB, in the course of large-scale events held jointly with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Guard in 53 Russian regions, identified 217 clandestine manufacturers and sellers of weapons.
The message of the CSO states that the FSB, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Russian Guard, stopped the activities of 217 residents from 53 subjects of Russia who are involved in the restoration of combat properties of civilian weapons in underground workshops and their subsequent sale. It is noted that operational-search activities and investigative actions were carried out from June to July of this year at the addresses of residence of illegal gunsmiths.
As noted in the CSO of the FSB of the Russian Federation, the result of the work carried out was the withdrawal from illegal circulation of 757 firearms of domestic and foreign production and the termination of the activities of 84 underground workshops for the modernization of weapons and the manufacture of ammunition. At the same time, the department added that work to identify and suppress this illegal activity continues.
