The FSB border service reported an increase in the number of tourist trips of Russians to Turkey, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka. Information about this disseminated Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) with reference to the data of the border service.
In the first quarter of 2023, the total number of trips of Russians abroad amounted to 4.9 million. This is 26.2% more than in January-March a year ago – 3.9 million trips.
Most often in the first quarter of this year, Russians from non-CIS countries visited Turkey (772.6 thousand visits), Thailand (566.4 thousand), United Arab Emirates (492.7 thousand), Egypt (277 thousand), Sri Lanka (79 thousand), Maldives (65 thousand), India (63 thousand), Serbia (31 thousand), Cuba (30 thousand) and Qatar (18 thousand).
According to ATOR, the outbound flow in January-March in 2023 to a group of 10 post-Soviet states (including Abkhazia and South Ossetia and excluding Ukraine, which would greatly distort statistics compared to 2019) amounted to almost 3.1 million trips. This is 44.2% more than in the same period in 2022.
