FSB: foreign intelligence agencies use mail services to collect data on SVO

Foreign intelligence agencies use Russian mail services to obtain information about the progress of the special operation in Ukraine and its participants. About it writes TASS with reference to the press service of the FSB.
“Since August 2022, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation has been recording facts of the use by foreign intelligence services of popular Russian mail services to find out and collect information regarding the conduct by the Russian armed forces of a special military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine, and about persons directly involved in it,” – said in the message.
It is clarified that for these purposes, foreign intelligence services send letters to relevant organizations with a request to provide information about the participants in the special operation, about those mobilized, as well as about those who entered Russia from the territory of Ukraine. The FSB stressed that these letters are sent from emails whose domain names are similar to those of the federal executive authorities.
The FSB called for vigilance, as well as for verifying the e-mail addresses from which letters come from with those listed on the official websites of departments. The press service also recommended not to open attachments attached to such letters.
