Ambassador Shulgin: Dutch lawyers are afraid to cooperate with Crimea in the Scythian gold case

Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the OPCW Alexander Shulgin said that the Dutch authorities are afraid to cooperate with Crimean museums in the case of “Scythian gold” due to EU sanctions, which complicates their position in the trial.
Shulgin suggested that the position of the Crimean museums, which are a party to the process of transferring “Scythian gold” to Ukraine, has deteriorated significantly in 2022 due to difficulties in finding lawyers who are able and willing to represent their interests in court. At the same time, as the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the OPCW noted, Dutch lawyers, whose participation in such a process is mandatory, are mostly afraid to cooperate with Russian legal entities and individuals due to EU sanctions.
According to Shulgin, this circumstance alone allows us to speak of a violation of the principle of equality of arms and the proper administration of justice.
