FSB detains SBU agent suspected of sabotage on railway

FSB officers detained a Ukrainian in the Moscow region, who is suspected of committing two acts of sabotage at railway facilities on the instructions of the SBU, informed center of public relations of the Russian special services.
“The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation detained a citizen of Ukraine born in 1977, who was involved in the commission of two acts of sabotage on the infrastructure of the Moscow Railway on the instructions of the SBU,” the report says.
The FSB also noted that the detainee was recruited by the SBU in the Polish city of Bydgoszcz with the participation of the Polish special services. At the same time, his verification and training was carried out in Riga together with employees of the special services of Latvia.
In November 2022, he was allegedly sent to Russia from Latvia under the guise of a refugee. While in the capital region, the detainee, according to the FSB, set fire to two cabinets for signaling, centralization and automatic blocking of the Moscow Railway. He was seized means of communication and electronic media with photo reports of sabotage and correspondence with an employee of the SBU.
A criminal case was initiated against the detainee under Art. 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Sabotage”), according to which he faces up to 15 years in prison.
Earlier today, the FSB announced detention member of the Azov battalion (recognized as an extremist organization in the Russian Federation and banned) in Rostov-on-Don. He is said to have also come to Russia under the guise of a refugee.
