The beginning of March in Moscow will be warm, the air temperature will begin to decrease significantly starting from March 6, said Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia. According to forecasters, in the second half of the week the temperature may drop to -10°C at night.

“A noticeable change in circulation is forecast from Wednesday. Air masses will no longer come from the south, southwest, southeast, and so on, but from the north. Therefore, night temperatures, according to preliminary calculations, can reach double-digit negative values,” Mr. Vilfand told TASS.

According to the head of the Hydrometeorological Center, tomorrow, March 2, the temperature is predicted to be between 2°C and 5°C, which is 3–4°C above the climate norm. On the night of March 2, the thermometer may drop to –5°C. A serious drop in temperature is expected on the night of March 3 – down to -4°C…-9°C; similar temperatures are predicted on the night of March 4 and 5.

Roman Vilfand noted that in the first five days of the month the temperature background will be positive throughout almost the entire territory of the European part of Russia, in most of the Urals, Western and Central Siberia and the Far East. Temperatures will drop below the climate norm only in the south of the Asian part of Russia – in Buryatia, Trans-Baikal Territory, Irkutsk and Amur regions, Khabarovsk Territory and Primorye.
