Frosts down to -25 degrees are coming to Moscow: pedestrians were warned about icy conditions

Meteorologist Vilfand spoke about the weather before Christmas
A sharp cold snap will begin on New Year’s Eve, from December 31 to January 1. In the first four to five days of January, abnormally cold weather with icy conditions is expected in Moscow.
As Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, told the Moscow agency, night frosts at the very beginning of 2024 could reach minus 25 degrees.
On December 30 it will rain, the temperature will be from two to four degrees Celsius, and many puddles will form. However, within a day frosts will strike, the water will freeze, and pedestrians need to be very careful.
It’s forecast to get a little warmer by Christmas. Daytime temperatures on January 5 will range from minus 17 to minus 12 degrees, at night – from minus 21 to minus 16. Light snow is expected.
The temperature during the day on January 6 and 7 will be from minus 15 to minus 10, at night – from minus 19 to minus 14 degrees. According to the weather forecaster, citizens and guests of the capital will experience classic Christmas frosts.
