Tourists who want to see one of the seven wonders of the world no longer have to bustle for half a day to get to the famous Pyramids. It will be possible to fly to them by plane – the new Egyptian Sphinx airport is located only 12 kilometers from the Great Pyramids zone.
It is planned that planes from Sharm el-Sheikh, Luxor and Aswan will fly to the Sphinx airport, located in the western part of Cairo. This was reported in the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) with reference to the Ministry of Civil Aviation of Egypt.
The Egyptian authorities expect that the new airport will be popular with tourists who want to see the pyramids, as well as visit the Great Egyptian Museum, the creation of which was spent more than a billion dollars. The museum is not yet open, but, apparently, its opening is not far off.
In the future, flights to the Sphinx airport will be carried out by the new local low-cost airline Air Sphinx. But he hasn’t started flying yet. However, from October 1, flights to the new airport are still planned – they will be operated by Air Cairo. Most flights will operate from Sharm El Sheikh. The flight will take about an hour and a half, and the transfer from the Sphinx airport to the Pyramids is less than half an hour.
As for prices, Air Cairo now offers promotional fares, at which a round-trip ticket, in terms of the Central Bank rate, will cost about three thousand rubles.
