Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said that in 2024 the transition to electronic medical records will become mandatory. He explained that this transition will be accompanied by the formation of new requirements for regional medical information systems, reports TASS from the National Health Congress.
An electronic medical record is an alternative to a paper medical record. It contains digital information about the owner’s health, diagnostic results, treatment progress in clinics, prescriptions issued and other data.
“Starting next year, we will (transition to electronic medical records) for executive authorities.— “Kommersant”) will be presented as a mandatory condition, because otherwise we simply will not be able to collect data sets… Refusal of paper is a financial, intellectual tool, continuity, including between levels of medical care, and patient support,” said Mr. Murashko .
The minister says going paperless is the future of primary health care. He said it’s about building a data resource that will help transform healthcare.
On September 26, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin ordered the launch of the federal project “Digital Health Services.” Part of it will be budgetary support for the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine, including in the process of analyzing electronic medical record data.
