French Prime Minister Elisabeth Born urged subordinates to stay in the capital during the pogroms
The Prime Minister of France demanded that all ministers return to Paris and stay there until the situation stabilizes. Riots have not subsided in the country since Tuesday. Elisabeth Born’s order was announced by the France Info radio station, citing a source in the Cabinet of Ministers.
Earlier, the French Prime Minister canceled her trip to the Vendée department. It was scheduled for Friday morning. Instead, she held a government meeting in Matignon. As a result, she stated that she did not exclude the possibility of introducing a state of emergency in the country.
The riots broke out on June 27 after an emergency in Nanterre, a suburb of Paris. A police officer shot and killed a 17-year-old boy who refused to comply with his demands during a road check. As a result, aggressive groups of young people began to seize the buildings of police stations, rob shops and banks, and set fire to cars.
On Friday evening alone, gendarmes detained 270 participants in the pogroms. This was announced by French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin.
