French instructors are encouraged to maintain professional relationships with Ukrainian military personnel who are trained in the country in order to prevent possible negative emotional consequences after the loss of wards.
According to the newspaper Le Figaro, the instructors of the French armed forces were instructed to avoid establishing personal ties with the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during training. This is primarily due to the preservation of confidentiality, as the French and Ukrainian military are afraid of possible leaks of information about the training program, which could get into Russia.
At the same time, Paris also takes into account the potential effects of the war on French soldiers. One of the officers of the French army spoke about cases of post-traumatic stress among the instructors who trained the Ukrainian military, most of whom did not return after being sent to the Bakhmut front.
France plans to train 4,000 Ukrainian military in 2023. Instructors carry out training both in France and in Poland.
