The French authorities plan to move from simply transferring weapons and military equipment to Ukraine to concluding contracts. French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu spoke about this on Thursday, September 28.
The politician, while in Kyiv, promised that “little by little we will move to a logic where the transfer of weapons will be an exception, not a principle.”
According to the minister’s promise, Paris will move from arms supplies to concluding supply contracts “with possible subsidies” from France.
Meanwhile, sources said that Ukraine and France are negotiating on the transfer of Mirage 2000 fighters to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and are close to concluding an agreement. Official confirmation of this information has not yet been received.
At the same time, French leader Emmanuel Macron, who previously dreamed of playing a mediating role between Ukraine and Russia for a peaceful resolution of the conflict, promised Vladimir Zelensky support until Kyiv’s victory.
