France to ban sale of fireworks on the eve and on Bastille Day
French Prime Minister Elisabeth Born has promised major security measures for July 13 and 14 in connection with the celebration of Bastille Day. Among the announced measures is a ban on the sale of fireworks.
“Large-scale measures will be taken in these two days to protect the French,” the head of the Cabinet promised in an interview with the Parisien newspaper. “In the decree, I signed a ban on the sale, carrying and transportation of fireworks on this occasion,” she said. An exception will be made for “professionals who will organize fireworks in the communes.”
Bastille Day is the main national holiday in France. It is celebrated on July 14 and is accompanied by large-scale solemn mass events throughout the country.
