France declared two employees of the Azerbaijani embassy persona non grata

A communique issued by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that, as a response to Azerbaijan’s actions, France declared two employees of the country’s embassy in Paris persona non grata.

The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to France, as previously reported, was summoned to the French Foreign Ministry to inform about the decision of Paris.

The day before, two employees of the French Embassy in Baku were declared persona non grata. In accordance with the decision, diplomats were asked to leave Azerbaijan within two days. The Foreign Ministry did not disclose what they were accused of.

In November, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev accused France of violating stability in the South Caucasus. According to him, Paris “is pursuing a militaristic policy, arming Armenia and encouraging revanchist forces in Armenia.” Aliyev made similar accusations against France more than once.
