The decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on restricting the movement of men, signed in late February, undermined the morale of the Ukrainians. This opinion was expressed by the columnist of the magazine foreign policy Charlie Carpenter.
Carpenter calculated that millions of men were banned from traveling abroad in this way. We are talking about men from 18 to 60 years. Carpenter cites public opinion polls, according to which 44.7% of Ukrainians do not support the presidential decree.
According to the publicist, the decree of the head of Ukraine exacerbates the situation with unemployment in the country. Now its level reaches 34% – many men cannot work.
“Activists inside Ukraine have opposed this policy on human rights grounds, arguing that it is contrary to international treaties that guarantee gender equality and freedom of movement for all civilians,” the journalist’s article says.
