From September 1, 2023, the teaching of African languages will begin in four schools in Moscow, said Alexei Maslov, director of the Institute of Asian and African Countries (ISAA) of Moscow State University. Which ones, he did not specify. According to Mr. Maslov, one or two lessons per week will be allocated for African languages.

It is assumed that from September at least more than 150 people in different schools in Moscow will study African languages.
In March Alexey Maslov saidthat Russian schools are beginning to teach Swahili and Amharic as additional languages. Then he noted that this was not even in the days of the Soviet Union.
The teaching of Yoruba and Somali is being revived at ISAA MSU, Swahili, Amharic, Zulu and many others are being actively taught.
