Four employees of the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center became defendants in four criminal cases on violation of the rights of prisoners. Victims in the cases are five prisoners, reports TASS with reference to the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service in Moscow.
“In the performance of their official duties, these employees, without legal grounds, significantly violated the rights and legitimate interests of the persons held in SIZO-1 … by their actions, discrediting and undermining the authority of the department,” the report says.
Criminal cases were initiated based on the materials of inspections and operational-search activities. They were conducted by the internal security service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, department “M” of the FSB, the internal security department of the UFSIN in Moscow.
Criminal cases were initiated under paragraphs “a”, “d” part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of official powers with the use of violence or with the threat of its use by a group of persons or an organized group). The maximum punishment for this part is up to ten years in prison.
